Week 1 Devlog - Blenderin' and Renderin'
For this week's self-study, we were encouraged to make a model of an object from a tourist spot in Tasmania. This was an attempt to create a model of the Margate Train, a tourist stop in Margate, Tasmania. I definitely got a bit over ambitious with the time frame available. The model is roughly 60% finished, with missing wheels, pipes and assorted odds and ends still required.
A week isn't really enough time for something so large and detailed, even in low-poly, while learning how to use blender from scratch. I tried to get to the point of having the UV mapping done as well, but...
As can be seen, I didn't get it done completely. The white sections are where I didn't get the UV Mapping completed in time, so it looks quite flat.
I was quite pleased after making a barrel following Brackey's tutorial series on Youtube. Given the time frame, I definitely should've aimed more for something barrel sized than train sized, for this week's task. Barrel included below;
